Health Foods High In Vitamin K
Leafy green vegetables rank highest in the health foods high in vitamin k.
Vitamin K is involved in blood clotting, as well as manufacturing (with vitamin D), a protein that binds to minerals that are stored in the bone.
It also enables the process where glucose is combined with phosphate so that it can be stored in the body's cells until it is needed in exercise or other things.
Vitamin K is also needed for good liver health.
There are 3 types of vitamin K. K1 and K2 are fat soluble, and made in the colon in the presence of the 'good' bacteria. K3 is man made, and water soluble. It is used for patients who cannot use the other types because they do not have enough bile (which breaks down fats) to absorb the fat soluble forms of vitamin K.
