Healing Through Natural Herbs - The Liver

- For Better Skin, Digestion, And Energy

The liver plays a vital role in our body, and we can improve our health by giving it a little support from time to time.

Many people choose to aid their liver's healing through natural herbs and diets - popular detox diets benefit it as well as the colon, helping the body eliminate wastes better.

This is great for skin problems, fatigue, irritability, and other minor, chronic ailments.

There are many ways to help cleanse, heal and repair your liver so that it functions much better than it has in the past. Liver cleansing can take time though. If you think about how long it took your liver to get to the condition it's currently in, it's easier to understand why it might take a bit of time to get it back into shape.

There are two primary ways to cleanse your liver, and these work best when done together. The first step is to modify your diet. Secondly, add in the benefits of healing through natural herbs that are known for liver cleansing, toning, and strengthening.

A liver cleansing diet is indeed similar to a body detox diet. You can jump start the process by going on a temporary liquid diet using fruit or vegetable juices for a week or two, but you don't have to. And if you already have a low body weight, or a medical condition, it is best to avoid this step. The same would be true for anyone suffering from any eating disorders, as this would exacerbate that psychological condition.

Essentially, in a liver cleansing diet, you drastically reduce the amount of sugars and simple starches you eat each day. These food items clog the liver and wear it down.

Other elements of a liver cleansing diet include:

  • plenty of fresh fruit - the antioxidants in them really help boost liver functioning
  • lots of fresh vegetables - the enzymes in fresh fruit and vegetables also help aid metabolism, which indirectly benefits the liver as it is very involved in our body's metabolism
  • eat a lot of good quality fiber
  • drink plenty of fluids, especially water - Fluids are used by both your kidneys and your liver to help filter toxins out of your body, and the more extra fluids you can get into your system, the faster your body is able to clear out toxins, bacteria, parasites and wastes.

healing through natural herbs to supprt the liverAfter the liver filters toxins and creates wastes, it sends those in the form of bile to your colon. The solid waste in your colon will dry out the longer it stays there, and this can create a back log of waste. When you have a backlog of solid wastes, the liver is then slowed down in it's job, because it's unable to send new filtered waste through to be disposed of.

So, part of a liver cleansing diet includes eating foods which will also help cleanse your colon. The faster you can remove wastes from your system, the faster your liver will be able to filter out the remaining toxins and metabolic by-products in your body.

The second step to cleansing your liver involves healing through natural herbs which are known to improve the health of your liver.

Dandelion for instance, is an excellent liver cleansing herb. It helps the liver to produce more bile, and this in turn helps to tone your liver and clear out more problem materials faster.
