Lipoic Acid with Vitamin C-esther and the Myths

If you're interested in lipoic acid with vitamin c-esther skin products, try the Antioxidant OPTIMUM Plus Cream/Emulsion.

This vitamin c-esther has an antioxidant function that protects the skin against free radicals, and the alpha lipoic acid increases vitamin potency and minimizes the appearance of enlarged pores, according to its producers.

If you're interested in lipoic acid with vitamin c-esther as a result of Dr Perricone's books or publicity, you may want to consider the information provided by Quack Watch.

They have found his claims to be generally unsubstantiated, his original published research very minimal and only in the area of topical glycolic acid (he has only two studies published). They state that: "Although he provides long lists of references, practically none of them directly support what he promises."

They further say that although it would be easy to scientifically validate his claims, he relies instead on photos and the subjective appraisal of participants of his program. Interestingly, in more than one instance, whilst the participants may have preferred (subjectively) the 'after' photos, other people looking at the photos preferred the 'before' photos.

lipoic acid with vitamin c estherA possible explanation of this is that participants have invested a great deal of time and money in the program and want to believe that their investment is paying off. Ultimately though, Perricone has not provided scientifically valid proof of his claims when he easily could gather that data with the methods used in the field.

Perricone argues that inflammation is the cause of wrinkles, yet Quackwatch state that the only two recognized factors are smoking and the sun. They further say:

"Dietary deficiencies can cause inflammation in the skin (pellagra is a classic example), but there's no evidence that supplementing an already adequate diet would prevent inflammation. Nor is there evidence that inflammation causes wrinkles."

Of those that have read the book and tried the method, one lady makes the point that his supplements and lotions such as with lipoic acid with vitamin c-esther are overpriced. She recommends Arbonne. She can be contacted at sallyvegso"at"myarbonne"dot"com.

Ultimately, lipoic acid with vitamin c-esther may well have benefits that are yet unrecognized by the scientific community. But like all supplements, make sure you do not exceed the Maximum amount that is safe per day. The Linus Pauling Institute has more information here.
