My favorite natural health and beauty product range is L'Occitane. They make skincare products for normal, dry, and sensitive skin, as well as having an anti-aging range.

They also make natural shampoos, conditioners, and hand and body products. But what really sets them apart are a combination of things.

Firstly, the products themselves are gorgeous. There is a richness in the ingredients and scents, which are all natural, or naturally derived. All the ingredients are bought from local growers that are well respected, so there is a commitment to quality at even the most basic level.

And L'Occitane is a company with integrity. Not only are the products not tested on animals, no animal by products, or products (except honey and milk) are used.

L'Occitane's integrity is embedded in it's treatment of humans too - they have a commitment to human rights. So, they guarantee that none of their products are made using child labor, and most products include braille labeling.

Their shea butter is bought under a Fair Trade agreement with a local women's cooperative in Burkina Faso in West Africa. These women, who collect the shea fruit, extract and dry the nuts, grind it to a fine paste, and then make the shea butter, are the only ones to benefit from their work, through the trade agreement. So, their labor is protected from exploitation.

• L' Occitane Shea Butter Range

  Shea butter is deeply moisturizing, and very gentle. It is traditionally massaged into babies from birth, which helps not only with the mother-baby bond but also in providing the sense of safety and well being that nourishing touch provides to babies.

  Shea butter is excellent for dry to normal skin. There are natural health and beauty products in this range that are tailored to dehydrated skin, as well as a gentle cleanser and make up remover, and a daily product suitable for normal to dry skin that contains SPF 15 to protect the skin from age related sun damage.

  The shea butter range also contains hair and body products.

• L'Occitane Immortelle Range

  Immortelle is a flowering plant that has strong healing properties. L' Occitane uses the Immortelle from Corsica, which although not as cheap as other species of Immortelle plants, is the only one with the healing properties that the literature describes.

  Immortelle has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties, and is useful for acne. It is also used to treat any rash or skin irritation, and one lady who sells the essential oil said it faded her bruise almost overnight.

  Immortelle also has antioxidant and anti-wrinkle properties. The L' Occitane Immortelle range is an anti-aging range of natural health and beauty products. There is a serum to improve skin complexion, and an elixir to improve circulation and skin texture. It helps protect the skin from damage by sun induced free radicals.

• L'Occitane Lavender Harvest Range

  L'Occitane's lavender is sourced within France, and has purifying, antiseptic, and relaxing properties. It is used by some aromatherapists for acne and rosacea. L'Occitane's lavender natural health and beauty products are certainly good for oily and combination skin.

  They also make bath and shower products in this range.

• L'Occitane Verbena Harvest Range

  L'Occitane's verbena extract is sourced in Corsica. Verbena is very calming, and said to have anti inflammatory properties. This range has body and shower natural health and beauty products.

• L'Occitane Olive Harvest Range

  L'Occitane's olive range includes some great products for the face, including a facial scrub mud mask, an antioxidant toner, and a non oily eye treatment to reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. They also have bath and body products.

• L'Occitane Honey Harvest Range

  L'Occitane's honey range is made from honey, propolis, and royal jelly, which are all bee products! Honey is very moisturizing, and also softens the skin. This skincare is good for sensitive skin, and the range includes body care natural health and beauty products.
