Scars And Vitamin A Oil
- Best Type Of Vitamin A
For healing scars and vitamin A oil, the choice would be to work with a retinol based cream, rather than the oil. You will have greater control over the concentrations of retinol (which is the dietary form vitamin A) derivatives you are applying to your skin.
And retinol has the effect of increasing the rate of skin cell turnover. At least with creams that contain retinol derivatives, the vitamin A has already been broken down into a form usable by the body. When we eat animal products that contain vitamin A or plant products that contain betacarotene, the body converts these to retinol and then either retinal or retinoic acid.
However, in terms of healing old scars, there are other agents like copper peptides and possibly active manuka honey that should be considered in conjunction with retinol products.
Manuka honey os excellent with new wounds to prevent scarring, including open surgical wounds, and is certainly worth a try on old scars.
